The calendars have arrived and they look great! They are currently available from Quayside, the College of FE, and the Princess Royal Centre. More places will have them next week and we will let you know where you can buy them. They will be available at Beau Sejour on Sunday at the Christmas Fayre.

You may have seen in the media that the Donkey Parade received the Fund Raising Team award at the recent Guernsey Community Foundation Awards.
Janet and I were delighted to be presented with the award but it was a massive team effort.
So, a big thank you to everyone involved in the Parade. It was a lot of hard work but it was also great fun and really caught the imagination of the public as well as raising a magnificent £60,000 for GALP.
We are now looking forward to next year’s cows!!
More details to follow soon.
Thanks again
Trevor
The Guernsey Donkey Parade calendar has now been completed, packed full of your wonderful photos featuring all the lovely donkeys, and looks great. It is hoped to be on sale and available before the end of November, so keep an eye out – we’ll post more info as soon as we know. We hope to sell the calendar from various outlets, including the Guernsey Press, Lexicon, College of FE’s main reception, Forest Stores and the Performing Arts Centre. It will also be sold during the pre-Christmas Late Night Shopping nights in St Peter Port. The cost will be £5.00 each.

There are plans to produce a commemorative calendar for the Donkey Parade. However, this does rely upon having a decent selection of photographs to choose from, which is why there has been a cry for help and a request for anyone wishing to have their photos considered to kindly submit them, ASAP, to Trevor Wakefield at trevorw@gcfe.net

Having just come back from Guernsey where I saw a few of the 42 donkeys featured in the colourful Donkey Parade, I feel tempted to share with you the story of our donkey, to be seen in the Biberach Market Square.
This donkey was created by Peter Lenk, a sculptor from Bodman, Lake Constance. The story behind it was written by Christoph Martin Wieland, who spent his childhood in Biberach and also worked here before he became the first classical author in Weimar, Thuringia. He wrote a satirical novel in the 1770s about the citizens of Abderra in Northern Greece (or Biberach, or …?) with episodes that might have some equivalents today. The Story about the Donkey and his Shadow is part of it and runs as follows:

Some bad news: Erudite, the donkey on the green outside St Peter’s Church was damaged earlier in the week. Someone snapped him off the plinth and smashed a hole in his face. We are trying to get him repaired in time for Sunday. If anyone has any information about the damage, please let me know so I can pass it on to the police.
